Are You Mistaken? Web Design
It’s great to have you back with us to learn more about Web/Graphic Design! Knowing that we are adding value to your day is just the icing we need on top of the cake of life.
Today’s topic: Web Design Misconceptions…
Now we know that there are a ton of them, but don’t worry, we know you have plenty of things to do, people to see, and places to be; so this will be a quick read.
We’ve narrowed the misconceptions down to our top three favorites. They just also happen to be, in our experience, the most common misconceptions as well.
#1: Web Design Should Be Cheap!
When I first started as an entrepreneur, fresh out of college, I was guilty of charging very low prices when it came to web design. It was simply because I was ignorant of how much work it would entail! With more experience under my belt, I quickly realized that designing and launching a 3-4 page website took more than just a few hours of work, and therefore I needed to raise my prices!
A good web design that produces results takes time, even when using a website template site like WIX or GoDaddy! Web design goes beyond looking appealing, and designers take hours to develop and execute designs that work for the brand and business they are created for.
#2: Web Design Is Easy!
This all depends on the client and the call to action for the site. The more complex the website design, the longer it will take to execute; especially if your site is being built from scratch! Some designers have limited offers where they “design your site in “one day” to help eliminate the messiness of the back and forth emails, and the many miscommunications that can occur between client and designer. Even in those situations prep work is required ahead of time. All to try and create the illusion of a flawless work day creating that website.
From experience it seems as if for a seamless design experience the stars have to all align at the right time, on the 5th thursday of every odd month. There seems to always be something that just doesn’t go quite as you planned.
Look, web design is tedious. It really isn’t for everyone, just because you think you should create your own website, doesn’t mean you should!
#3: The More Input The Better!
While it is great to have multiple eyes on a project, keep those eyes to a minimum! With too many opinions, too many visions, too many voices, the design and the final product is almost guaranteed to become compromised and complicated. Try keeping the designing process between your designing team, and one to two members of the organization. Trust us, it will eliminate a lot of back and forth!
We hope you enjoyed our top three favorite misconceptions about Web Design.
